How to Stick the Landing on Hybrid Events:
Blended Event Basics and Beyond

Richard Aaron, CMP, CSEP
Erica St. Angel

Ever wish someone would break down the basics of a hybrid event, without all the hype? Here’s your chance. Our expert panel will discuss strategies and tactics from successful blended events that – by design – didn’t include every social bell and whistle. Plus our facilitator, Erica St. Angel, will present a case study of UNLEASH, a hybrid event that won a Forrester Groundswell Award and was mentioned in the book Empowered for its integrated – but laser-focused – campaign that successfully leveraged online video, webcasting, email and social media to increase attendance by 15 percent in the face of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

That event employed the bare minimum of meeting tools and technology to exponentially increase attendance and audience engagement. With that as our inspiration, we’ll work as a group to pool our collective meeting‐planning wisdom to come up with a short but perhaps the most powerful checklist of what hybrid events must offer to sell an online pass, stimulate conversation and ultimately create lasting value.

Attendee takeaways include:

  1. Understand the major components of creating a hybrid meeting
  2. Triage social media, meeting technology and virtual meeting tactics to single out only the most impactful ideas for attendees – onsite and online
  3. Learn the top four/five ideas that, when perfectly executed, guarantee increased engagement and further discussion after the conference

The FRC has been helping youth, military families, couples, parents and communities since 1992 through community programs, playgroups, counseling and education. The FRC is preparing for a move to a new facility at the end of April called the Generations Building. This unique facility houses a variety of organizations that provide services to the intergenerational community in Sheboygan County. It is a one of a kind in Wisconsin. So the timing is perfect for the Chapter to get involved in donating to their cause.
