Six Steps to a Zero Waste Event

#MPIWI

Do you ever wonder how you can cut down on event waste at your property?  How many times do you have attendees/planners asking what your company does to cut down on extra food waste?   What do you do to save energy or reduce your use of electricity?

Join us on Thursday, October 25th at The Ridge Hotel in Lake Geneva, as Julia Spangler presents the ins and outs of how to reduce waste at events. Julia's interactive session will keep attendees engaged as she explains the Six Steps to a Zero Waste Event.

After the session, we will board for a lake cruise hosted by Lake Geneva Cruise Line. During the cruise, The Ridge Hotel will provide appetizers and one drink ticket per person, including a cash bar. There will also be a shuttle service to and from the boat cruise, offered by The Ridge Hotel. We encourage you to come early or stay late to enjoy all that Lake Geneva has to offer.

Don’t forget to visit one of our complimentary MPI 101 sessions before lunch!
Are you new to MPI or would like to learn more about MPI and how to get involved? MPI 101 is the right place for you to be!  New and veteran members welcome!

Six Steps to a Zero Waste Event

Waste often seems inevitable in the events industry, but following a few simple steps will enable you to dramatically reduce the amount of waste generated by your events, plus produce meaningful measurements you can use to track and share your results.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the six steps of the zero waste event planning process. This process can be used by any planner—at any level of experience with sustainability—to implement a waste reduction practice that can be improved over time.
During the workshop, you’ll participate in interactive activities in order to immediately begin applying waste reduction, diversion and measurement techniques.

Attendees of this session will:
  • Understand the difference between a zero waste event and a zero waste planning process.
  • Understand the six steps of the zero waste event planning process, including how to calculate the waste diversion rate of an event.
  • Practice applying waste reduction, diversion and measurement techniques.
