Playbook for Learning: Engage, Rulebreak, Shake-It-Up!

Sharon Fisher

Tired of sitting in sessions listening to speakers drone on and watching attendees stare at their handhelds?  Then shake it up!  Come experience new insights and games that you can share with your speakers and use in your sessions to actively engage learners in the material.  We’ll play (yes – this is hands-on) with four different interactive activities to explore how they work, how you can use them, and what types of content material they work best for. Best of all: the games are all free or at a very low cost!

Objectives:
  • Understand the power of interactive learning and why it works (and be able to justify it to the skeptics)
  • Experience four different game models and techniques to immediately put to use in your sessions
  • Walk away with tools to use with SME’s, speakers and meeting designers to make learning more interactive

Speaker Bio:

Sharon Fisher is a professional “experience-maker”.  When all her friends were getting real degrees, she chose to major in “whistle blowing” as her father called her degree in Recreation.  Now celebrating 20 years in her business, Play with a Purpose runs hundreds of events a year.   Chosen as one of Entrepreneur Magazines Young Millionaires, she has proven that the passion for play works.

Her quote “In a world full of copies, here’s to the ORIGINALS!” summarizes her business style.  Sharon’s reputation for leading the industry in creating teambuilding, community service, and icebreaker events has led to 20 years in business.   Now the next evolution is putting play on the broader meeting platform – gamifying meetings, making them more engaging and relevant, and adding experiential learning programs to bring learning alive.  She also helps organizations “think different” about their business with Quirkshops and Idea Explorations into customer service, creating engaging experiences, process improvement, and improving employee morale.

In addition to being the preferred vendor for Walt Disney World Co., her clients include Chevrolet, Camp Jeep, BBDO, Disney Publishing, Cadbury Schweppes, CUNA Mutual, American Express, Frito Lay, CarMax, US Air Force, IBM, McDonalds and the North Carolina Sweet Potato Commission.  Her highly energetic style consistently delights audiences and makes learning fun.
