Continuing The Conversation – The Hotel Business Model in Today’s Economy

Join our MPI Chairman, Michael Dominguez as he takes an in depth look at the Business Models in today economic environment so you can gain an understanding of negotiating in these uncertain times.  The goal is to elevate the dialogue and have an in-depth business discussion of our business today.  This session looks at the economic meltdown, the recovery, RevPAR (revenue per available room) projections moving forward and an ever changing environment.

You’ll leave with an understanding of:

  • The driving issues in the hotel industry and how that impacts to your meetings
  • What economic conditions to expect for 2014 from industry research
  • What questions do you need to ask to make sure you leverage appropriately as a meeting professional
  • Discuss WIFI and the questions we should be asking

Speaker Bio:

Michael Dominguez is the Senior Vice President for MGM Resorts International providing oversight of sales strategies in the MICE, leisure and transient segments, including industry relations, diversity sales and MGM Resorts Events & Production Services. Additionally, Michael oversees the GSO offices for MGM Resorts International overseeing the development and execution of a company-wide sales strategy for top destination accounts to MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, Detroit, Mississippi, Reno and global development.

Michael’s past experience includes Food & Beverage operations, Sales and Marketing responsibilities as well as a destination marketing organization in Palm Springs, California.

Michael is actively involved in leadership roles in the Meetings and Events Industry and currently serves as the Chairman on the International Board of Directors for Meeting Professionals International. Michael’s other industry leadership involvement includes board positions with:  US Travel Association (Executive Committee), Steering Committee for US Travel’s Meetings Means Business Coalition, Starcite Advisory Board, Elite Meetings Advisory Board, PCMA Issues and Trends Taskforce, ASAE Industry Partner Alliance and Convene Green Advisory Board.

Michael was recently recognized as: “Successful Meetings 2013 Top 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry”, HSMAI’s 2013 Top 25 Influential Minds in Sales & Marketing  and HispanicBusiness.com’s “50 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States”.

Learn how to make the most of your MPI-WI experience!  New members are encouraged to attend, but this session is open to all active members. We will touch on the basics of MPI and answer any questions about the MPI-WI website, as well as discuss current volunteer opportunities!
